I need some time off
September 22, 2008
From April 1st to September something-teenth, I wrote a story a day. Some of the posts to this site were pretty decent, and some were completely crappy, but at least I never missed a day.
Now I need some time off. I’m job-hunting and moving to a new state, and there’s just no other way. Why not add me to your RSS reader and hunker down for the wait.
I’ll be back on October 2nd. sometime.
Story a Day on Robot Foot
July 1, 2008
Several days ago, I ran into Jonathan Murphy, who writes about “hyper-connectivity” and creativity on the blog Robot Foot. I wish we’d gotten to talk more, because the implications of that combination are fascinating, although maddeningly over my head—sure, once upon a time I took some classes about “postmodern culture,” but let’s be honest: the material was limited, I barely passed, and it took a lot of teachers’ office hours to get even that far. So, as someone who’s tried and come up short, I greatly admire Jonathan’s ambitious endeavor to parse our new, more connected world… one artist (or Domino’s Pizza anecdote) at a time.
Turns out Jonathan’s interested in what I’m doing, too. He even made a post about Story a Day, saying that it’s all about “[g]etting the work out there, and making creativity more of an iterative process.” He also says that Story a Day is “…a model for finding your voice online.”
Shucks. That’s exactly the idea, and I couldn’t have said it better myself. At least, not yet.

I’m on 6S Today
June 12, 2008
Six Sentences is a web (and print) publishing project that provides exposure to new writers who play with the short prose form. Every piece in the 6S scope is six sentences long. I’ve been a reader for several weeks, and the range of styles and material that shows up on the 6S blog is inspiring.
Today, the 6S editors posted six sentences of mine: a fictional thing called “At a Supermarket in Japan,” which I’ve never published to Story a Day. Go read it!
I’ll still get a new story up here later today.

Updating automatically the next few days
June 5, 2008
I’m going to be away from computers and telephones from Thursday PM until Monday AM. The next few days’ stories should show up automatically while I’m gone. Over the weekend you should read new stories, link to me in your LiveJournal, spam the bejeezus out of me, and cuss me out about how I don’t know what a bathtub electrocution looks like. Now is the time. I won’t know what hit me! In fact, I dare you.
While I’m away, I’ll be thinking up some new, better stories to post next week.
I’m gonna shut up now, lest Story a Day become a blog. This is a place for short stories. Important, grownup short stories about buttholes and sugar rollercoasters and unicorns.
Thanks for readin’.

Test post: postdating
June 3, 2008
I’m testing the WordPress postdate feature. This was written at 3:24 PM on Monday and should post at 4:00 PM on Tuesday.

EDIT: all right, duly noted, I’m actually not too retarded to postdate my posts. Now, even if I go to the moon, I’ll be able to set the site to update automatically in my absence.
Hello
March 27, 2008
I’m starting this project April 1st, 2008. Please stay tuned for a short story (or even “short short story” or “vignette”) a day, every day. EVEN MEMORIAL DAY.
